Track Name: Video Shop
I'll meet you down Shantalla Road
At the Video Shop
Where flesh is bared and heads explode
At the Video Shop
We see the girls all passing by
But there's no clubbing for you and I
Cos we choose Buckaroo Banzai and the Video Shop

There was the strangest kind of silence
In the Video Shop
As we perused the sex and violence
Of the Video Shop
Between the sci-fi and the horror
Two boys with no school tomorrow
How many nightmares can we borrow
From the Video Shop?

There's something funny going on
With the Video Shop
I turned around and it was gone
The Video Shop
Who'll keep the monsters in their place?
Chucky, Freddy, Michael Myers and Jason?
Killer Klowns From Outer Space
Took the Video Shop!

Remember when we were all so scared
Of all the nasties lurking there, now
Videodrome is everywhere
But the Video Shop
Videodrome is in the air
Not the Video Shop
You'll never get it back in there
Not the Video Shop
Track Name: The Random Walk
I read in a magazine
That before sunlight is ever seen
It has to push up through the machine
Through miles of noise and plasma and all
It's soaked up and disappears
Then re-emerges and disappears
They have a name for this weird career
The Random Walk

The Random Walk
So stupid and slow
But the Random Walk is all that sunbeam knows

I know how it must appear
I'm over there then I'm over here
When I go zig-zagging out of fear
Then call you up next morning to talk
I don't know what else to do
You think I'm walking away from you
But I'm just doing what I always do
The Random Walk

The Random Walk
So stupid and slow
But the Random Walk is all I know

I don't know what else to do
You think I'm walking away from you
But I'm just doing what I always do
The Random Walk
Track Name: The Unhappiest Man in the World
Infamy, oh, infamy
One day they'll all have it in for me!
But, of course, my prayer was answered
Now I'm feted far and wide
And they're weeping in the mosh pit
Imagine what would happen if I really tried...

Oh, I'm still amazed, from time to time
How far they'll come for an average rhyme
But please don't get a life, dear
Living's overrated
No, of course I don't believe that
But, dear, you do expect me to say it

When you bring your broken dreams to me
The Unhappiest Man in the World
Sing along, pretend to be
The Unhappiest Man in the World
And you won't dare be disappointed in the show
Cos you pinned me up here you know

How was I to know those legendary punks
Were just dull and thuggish, unglamorous drunks?
With your badges and contusions
And your overburdened eyes
Don't you tire of the illusion?
What if everything I sang was just lies

You'd probably bring your broken dreams to me
The Unhappiest Man in the World
Sing along, pretend to be
The Unhappiest Man in the World
And you won't dare be disappointed in the show
COS YOU HAVE NOWHERE ELSE TO GO
I know
Track Name: After All
After all those days
What do we have now?
After all the care we took getting here
Just a heavy heart for a souvenir
After all those smokes
It seems there was no fire
And a chill comes over the evening
They're closing and everyone's leaving

Is that all there is?
I hear myself sing
Down the darkest of roads my mind goes wandering
We do it out of fear
We do it cos we must
Before we disappear into dust

After all those plans
Where is the little house
With the kitchen, like in the magazines
And those cosy, fireside scenes
After all those laughs
All we can do is sigh
And wonder why, when we had a ball
We wound up saying goodbye
After all
Track Name: King St.
Looking back is a dangerous thing
And you don't want to do it all day
But every time they ask me to sing
They want to be swept away
They're hoping maybe I'll Begin the Beguine
And bring a phantom into view
I'm only happy to oblige them
If they don't mind coming back to

To King St
To a small Italian place
Where it wasn't bright enough to take a photograph
All that came out was the outline of your face

Looking back is a dangerous thing
But why must I forget?
Sure there's the day that we finished the thing
But there's still the day we met
No-one gets to keep everything
At least not for very long
So you'll forgive me for remembering
That night we walked along

Along King St
To a small Italian place
Where it wasn't bright enough to take a photograph
All that came out was the outline of your face

And I doubt that I'll ever forget that beautiful silhouette
Track Name: Party On My Own
Out the window now
I see the sun go down
And all the boys and girls
Are struttin' into town
I'm not some lonely crone
I won't wait for the ring of the telephone

I'm gonna party on my own

Well I got Jack here
And there's Charlie too
And look, it's Mary Jane
So who needs friends like you
And when I'm in the zone
I won't need you to throw me a frickin' bone

I'm gonna party on my own
Track Name: Lauren Bacall
Now that you're gone
All I have is a poster
Just hanging on to the kitchenette wall
Blackening now with the smoke coming up from the toaster
I can't take her down
Not my Lauren Bacall

The curl of your mouth
The seam of your stocking
What a knockout - oh, boy did I fall
I blurted out something like "the resemblance is shocking!"
She said"Gotta light?"
and "Who's Lauren Bacall?"

I wonder now
Did I light you in shadow?
Drape you in dreams
Like some kind of a doll?
Cos I don't know how, but sometimes I look back and don't know
Who broke my heart:
You or Lauren Bacall?
Track Name: Toby and Daisy
Toby, as it turns out, was a prick
But Daisy didn't care about that
It always made her sister sick
She fell for any posh boy in a hat
Daisy was as thin as a rake
She spent the day saying "I'm so fat!"
Toby never once said she was mistaken
He'd just read a book and stroke the cat

And Daisy says "London is better than New York"
Though she fears it isn't so
And Toby says "Oh, SO much better than New York,"
And Daisy says "I know!"

They spent a sunny Saturday at a party
On a rooftop garden
Then bickered horribly all the way
From Bishopsgate to Barden's
Daisy tried to stay away but she failed
After he pushed her around
So many girls have told me this tale
I'm just tired of it now

And Daisy says "London is better than New York"
Though she fears it isn't so
And Toby says "Oh, SO much better than New York,"
And Daisy says "I know!"

They were standing on the corner
Of Dalston Junction and Ball's Pond Road
